Defacto-Law.jpgA divorce formally ends a marriage.

You can usually apply for a divorce once you have been separated for twelve months. The Divorce means that you or your former spouse can then remarry.

The Divorce does not deal with property settlement. spousal maintenance or children’s issues. Those issues have to be sorted out separately.

It is a reasonably straightforward application which can be made by both spouses jointly or by one spouse on their own.
